    Sonoco gifts $25,000 to Coker College in Honor of Louise and Harris DeLoach

    Coker College, soon to be Coker University, received a generous gift of $25,000 from Sonoco Products Company in honor of Louise and Harris DeLoach. Mr. DeLoach is retiring from his position as director and executive chairman of Sonoco this month, after a 33-year career in senior management and service with Sonoco, one of the world’s largest diversified global packaging companies.

    The June 1 deadline is quickly approaching for Coker’s $2,000 DII scholarship. The scholarship is available for professionals currently employed at any NCAA Division II athletics program who are interested in pursuing their Master of Science in College Athletic Administration (MSCAA). This opportunity is open to staff members in any area of DII athletics—from coaching to sports information to compliance—who enroll in Coker’s MSCAA program.

    Coker College Students Earn $5000 in Prize Money at the 2019 P.E.E. D.E.E. Idea Challenge

    Last night, ten semi-finalist teams from Coker College, Florence-Darlington Technical College, and Francis Marion University competed for $7500 in prize money at the third annual P.E.E. D.E.E. Idea Challenge, with Coker College well-represented with seven teams winning $5000 in prize money.

    Coker College to Host Annual Earth Day Celebration at Kalmia Gardens April 13

    Coker College will host its annual Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 13, from 9:30am to 1:30pm at Kalmia Gardens. The event, which is free and open to the public, will host activities for all ages including falconry, beekeeping, nature walks, a reptile collection, a plant sale, acoustic music with Jim Money, reggae music with Levi and Lucia Byrd., arts and crafts, games, as well as displays on sustainability, alternative energy, recycling, and environmental research.

    Coker College and its Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Dr. Marlene Ross, a higher education consultant and former longtime director of the American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows Program, will give the college’s 111th commencement address on Saturday, May 11.
