    Journal Spotlights Coker Professor, Grad Research on NFL Domestic Violence Issues

    HARTSVILLE, SC (September 16, 2021) -- Sociation recently published "Neutralization Theory and the NFL's Domestic Violence Issues: A Case Study Analysis," a manuscript written by Dr. Danny Malone, Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Coker University, and Kelli Smith, a 2019 Coker Criminology graduate.

    The article was based on Smith's Honors Thesis at Coker, which was supervised by Dr. Malone. Her thesis was originally presented at the 2019 Southern Sociological Society Annual Meetings.

    Smith, who also played golf at Coker, is currently pursuing a law degree and a master's in criminology at the University of South Carolina. 

    Malone also serves as Sociology Coordinator at Coker, as well as Master of Science in Criminal and Social Justice Policy Coordinator and African American Studies Specialization Coordinator.
