Generative AI is reshaping higher education, and Coker faculty are leaning into the challenge.

This academic year, the Committee for Excellence in Teaching and Learning has strategically focused on helping faculty understand and thoughtfully engage with this rapidly evolving technology. Through a series of interactive sessions and collaborative learning opportunities, the committee has built a strong foundation for innovation across campus.

The initiative began with hands-on workshops introducing the basics of teaching with AI, helping instructors explore ways to integrate tools like ChatGPT into their classrooms. Faculty and staff also came together for monthly “Learn-At-Lunch” presentations, where colleagues shared real-world examples of AI enhancing teaching and streamlining administrative tasks. These informal gatherings have sparked ongoing conversations and cross-campus collaboration.

To deepen the dialogue, the committee launched a book club centered around Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning—a timely text that invites educators to consider the ethical and creative possibilities AI offers in higher education.
