Isabel Elson-Enriquez joined Coker University’s Board of Trustees in November 2023.

Elson-Enriquez is a Ph.D. candidate in Art History at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). She has been an instructor of Art History at various colleges throughout the CUNY system since 2019, gaining insight into the student experience of the country’s largest urban public university.

Through this work, she has become invested in making higher education not only accessible but also practical for students with increasingly complicated lives. One of the questions that drives her work is how to ensure the future of the humanities in higher education through cross-disciplinary collaboration and the practical application of humanities skills.

Coker’s president, Dr. Natalie Harder, is thrilled about Elson-Enriquez's presence on the university’s Board of Trustees.

“Isabel brings a unique perspective as a graduate student with extensive experience in the visual arts,” Harder said.

Before joining the Graduate Center, Isabel worked at for-profit and non-profit art institutions including Lehmann Maupin Gallery, the Harvard Art Museums and Sotheby’s.

Isabel was born and raised in London, UK, but spent every summer of her childhood returning to South Carolina where her family is from. She received her B.A. from Harvard University and her M.A. from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She currently lives in the Bay Area, California with her husband.
