Miami to Perform at Coker University ## Dance NOW! Miami to Perform at Coker University ADDITIONAL MENU - [Tweet](https://twitter.com/share) Mar 15, 2021 [Coker University](https://blogs.coker.edu/news-stories/author/coker-university) Internationally renowned dance company Dance NOW! Miami will be performing at Coker University on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 7:30 PM in Watson Theatre. Coker faculty, staff, and students have the option to attend in-person as there are a limited number of in-person tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis at [coker.edu/vpa-tickets](http://coker.edu/vpa-tickets). Tickets for virtual attendees are also available at [coker.edu/vpa-tickets](http://coker.edu/vpa-tickets). This performance by Dance NOW! Miami is a culmination of a 2-year residency between the company and the Coker University dance program. The residency entailed Dean Angela Gallo creating choreography for Dance NOW! Miami, as well as the company creating choreography for Coker during the Faculty Guest Artist Concert in 2020. The rest of the residency was postponed until now due to restrictions related to COVID-19.  Dance NOW! Miami was founded in 2000 by Artistic Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini. The company presents several major projects annually, including original work from the Artistic Directors, created individually and collaboratively, work of emerging guest artists from throughout the US and reconstructions of historic masterworks of the 20th and 21st Century. In addition, their Masterpiece in Motion series honors the rich legacy of dance through the reconstruction of historic works of ballet and modern dance from the 20th and 21st Century (from Doris Humphrey to Isadora Duncan to Gerald Arpino/Joffrey Ballet). This company has been presented in fifteen states and on three continents, from Brazil to Mexico, Honduras to Italy. With a strong commitment to education, Dance NOW! has reached over 33,000 children in South Florida alone through its in-school residencies, the World Dance Summer Intensive, the Dance NOW! Youth Ensemble, and performances throughout the community and from its home at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. The mission of Dance NOW! Miami is to promote the artistic vision of co-founders Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini. The company creates, promotes and produces contemporary dance of the highest caliber and through performance, arts education, community leadership and innovative programming, nurtures new talents, fosters artistic collaborations and makes the art of dance accessible to diverse audiences locally, nationally and internationally. This performance and residency are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. To learn more information from Dance Now!
