Coker University kicked off the 2025–2026 academic year by welcoming new and returning faculty and staff, celebrating recent accomplishments, and outlining a bold vision for the year ahead. The annual State of the University address is the official kickoff to the new year, and President Dr. Natalie Harder emphasized the momentum going into the new year.

Over the past year, Coker lived its Culture of COBRAS values, earning back-to-back NCAA DII Community Service Awards, achieving a clean SACSCOC review, revamping core courses, and celebrating athletic milestones, including Women’s Basketball’s historic run to the Elite Eight. Faculty innovation and student success flourished, with all faculty trained in AI, expanded research opportunities, and a commitment to zero textbook costs for 100- and 200-level courses.

The University is also expecting enrollment growth this academic year. With classes starting on August 19, overall enrollment is on pace to see a 10% growth over last year.  From expanding nursing success to launching new student support initiatives, Coker continues to invest in academic quality, student life, and the Hartsville community.

Looking ahead, the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan: “Mastering Knowledge. Expanding Networks. Shaping Futures.” will guide efforts to create personalized learning pathways, strengthen student experiences, and foster vibrant professionalism. Key goals include expanding employer partnerships, increasing work-based learning to 100% of graduates, and growing alternative revenue.

With renewed momentum in enrollment and new initiatives underway, Coker is positioned for continued growth and impact in the year ahead.
