Coker University celebrated the achievements of 156 graduates during its Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony, held Saturday, May 3, at the Harris E. and Louise H. DeLoach Center.
The graduating class included 33 first-generation college students and more than 100 student-athletes. Degrees awarded spanned undergraduate and graduate programs, including the Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Science in Management and Leadership.
“This class has faced challenges and stayed focused,” said Dr. Natalie J. Harder, President of Coker University. “They’ve earned their degrees through hard work and persistence, and we’re proud to see them take this next step.”
Lewis Sharpe, a 1993 Coker alumnus, Board of Trustees member, and co-owner of Premier Growers, Inc., delivered the commencement address. He spoke about his time at Coker, his career in business, and the importance of staying committed to personal growth.
“Success doesn’t come all at once,” Sharpe said. “It’s the result of small, consistent efforts over time. Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep doing the work.”
Graduates earning a bachelor’s degree represented a variety of programs, with Business Administration, Nursing, Physical Education, Psychology, and Criminology among the top majors. Many students earned additional majors, minors, or honors distinctions.
The ceremony included traditional elements such as the academic processional, honor society recognition, and the alma mater, sung by Austin Gullette. Kristian Johnson '01 welcomed graduates into the Alumni Association, and Taylor Hills ’25 gave the student address.
“We’re proud of every graduate who walked across the stage,” said Dr. Harder. “They’ve made their mark on Coker, and we look forward to seeing what they’ll do next.”
