Coker University hosted its annual commencement ceremony with President Natalie J. Harder conferring degrees upon 133 undergraduate and five graduate students. The event was held at Coker’s Harris E. and Louise H. Deloach Center on May 4, 2024.

The ceremony, a culmination of years of hard work and dedication, was attended by proud families and friends. Many graduates stated that this ceremony was special to them because they didn’t have the opportunity to experience their high school graduation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each graduate crossed the stage to receive their well-earned diplomas and a hug from Dr. Harder.

The day prior, seniors on Coker’s baseball team had a small graduation ceremony due to the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Baseball Tournament on Saturday morning.

Board of Trustees member A. Hoyt Kelley ‘96 delivered the commencement address, sharing his own experiences and offering the graduating class valuable insights. Chandler Owens ‘24 concluded the ceremony by addressing his fellow graduates.

The 116th Spring Commencement followed a month full of award ceremonies, such as Honors Convocation on April 19, the Excellence in Leadership Awards on April 23, and the Coker Athletic’s Fang Awards on April 18. In addition, 107 students earned Dean’s List recognition, and 136 students earned President’s List recognition.

21 awards were presented at the Excellence in Leadership awards ceremony, with categories ranging from student organization awards to the coveted Dr. James D. Daniels Student Leader of the Year Award. 15 awards were presented at the Fang Awards, rewarding student athletes for their hardwork during the school year.
