Coker University held the official ground-breaking on a new state-of-the-art baseball hitting facility. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday, October 10, with members of the University community, athletic department, local leaders, and alumni in attendance.

This much-anticipated facility represents Coker’s commitment to enhancing the experience of its student-athletes. The new space will provide Cobra athletes with year-round access to advanced training equipment, allowing them further to develop their skills and performance on the field.

“This facility is an important investment in the future of our baseball program and our student-athletes,” said Dr. Lynn Griffin, the University’s Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Facilities. “We are committed to giving our Cobras the resources they need to excel, and this hitting facility is a testament to that dedication.”

The project is being funded by generous donations, with significant contributions from Coker baseball alumni. “We are deeply grateful for the support of our alumni,” said Dr. Natalie Harder, President of Coker University. “Their dedication to Coker and their generosity have made this facility a reality, and it will be a lasting legacy for future generations of Cobra athletes.”

Head Baseball Coach Fico Kondla adds, “As an alum, this place means a lot to me. It means a lot to my assistant coaches. We take tremendous pride in this place, and we take pride in making sure that we're growing as a program, growing on the field, growing as individuals, and we're moving in the right direction as a program and an organization.”

Once completed, the hitting facility will feature cutting-edge technology, including high-quality batting cages, pitching machines, and video analysis tools to aid player development. The space will serve the baseball team and host camps, clinics, and other training opportunities.
