HARTSVILLE, SC (March 8, 2022) -- The South Carolina Arts Commission awarded Coker University a $25,000 grant for its Summer Arts Education program.
Coker's ArtSummer in Darlington County School District was devised to significantly raise student achievement in the arts through the inclusion of advanced programs of study in production, analysis, and evaluation.
This collaborative project between Coker University’s McCall School of Visual and Performing Arts is an output of Coker University’s Strategic Plan for vibrant communities that encourages faculty and student sponsored community outreach programs that will increase community impact and engagement. Coker faculty and students under faculty mentorship, along with guest artist instructors, will provide education and training in the arts to students (6-12th grade) on Coker University’s campus in the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center and Gladys Fort Art Building.
