Coker University is proud to host Juan Enríquez on March 19, 2024, for the university’s Lois Walters Coker series. The event will be at 6 p.m. on campus in the Watson Theater.

Enríquez is a Mexican-American academic, businessman, author and speaker. He graduated from Harvard with his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1981 and 1986.
He is recognized as a leading authority on the economic and political impacts of life sciences. Enríquez is chairman and CEO of Biotechnomogy LLC, a life sciences research and investment firm. He has also authored many books, including Evolving Ourselves: How Unnatural Selection and Nonrandom Mutation are Changing Life on Earth (Current-Penguin Group, 2015), Homo Evolutis: Please Meet the Next Human Species (TED, 2012), As the Future Catches You: How Genomics & Other Forces are Changing Your Life, Work, Health & Wealth (Crown Business, 2005), and The Untied States of America: Polarization, Fracturing, and Our Future (Random House, 2005).
He is very active in the business world, serving as managing director of Excel Venture Management. Enríquez also joined a multi-stage world sailing discovery voyage led by J. Craig Venter, who sequenced the human genome.
“It isn’t every day that you can sit across from a bestselling author and futurist like Mr. Enriquez. I expect his remarks to reverberate across campus and our community and lead to important discussions among our students,” Dr. Harder said.
