HARTSVILLE, SC (December 15, 2021) - Coker University’s Black Alumni Network (CBAN) recently gave back to the local community, as the active alumni organization recently donated toys and coats to more than 70 families in the Pee Dee.

Coker alumni from the 1970s through the present helped coordinate the giveaway across the state the past weekend.  CBAN, an organization open to all Coker alumni, has a second event scheduled for Saturday, December 18 in Columbia.

As CBAN continues its work with current Coker students, members of the alumni group will celebrate the Inaugural Donning of the Kente Ceremony on February 4 at 6 pm in Davidson Hall. As part of Black History Weekend, Dr. Athena King, professor of political science at Old Dominion University and Coker Class of 1990, will speak at the student event.
