68 Coker Student-Athletes Receive Division II ADA Academic Achievement Awards

68 Coker student-athletes received the 2017-18 Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award. The program recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.

Beebe Selected to NCAA Leadership Academy Workshop

Director of student-athlete affairs and event management, Aaron Beebe one of 30 candidates selected across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III to participate in the NCAA Leadership Academy Workshop.The workshop educates and trains athletics administrators on the ins and outs of developing effective, comprehensive leadership curriculum for student-athletes and department staff. Participants in the workshop learn how to structure activities, facilitate discussions, and structure effective sessions.

Coker Softball to Help Lead Hartsville Area Fall Softball Program

Head softball coach Travis McCall and the Coker College Softball team took on the Hartsville Area Fall Softball Program, which is a youth softball program aimed at providing skill instruction and increasing participation in the Hartsville Area Recreation Department. The program is split into two divisions and the Coker softball players have taken the responsibility of conducting practices and running each game.

Gajewski Wins South Atlantic Conference Carolinas AstroTurf Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

Coker Field Hockey’s Amelia Gajewski was named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week for her standout performance against Converse. Gajewski, a junior from Collins, New York, led the Cobras to their first field hockey victory in over 40 years, with a 4-2 win over Converse. The midfielder netted a hat trick, scoring three goals for six points on three shots. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Gajewski and the Cobras.

Taylor du Bray Wins AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week

Coker women’s volleyball player Taylor du Bray (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, earning the first SAC Player of the Week award of her career. Du Bray set the single-season kills record for Coker with 340 kills last season. Her 508 career kills ranks 11th all-time in Coker history.
